A December 29, 2005, letter report from TRB's Research and Technology Coordinating Committee (RTCC) to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) summarizes the committee’s November 1-2, 2005, meeting. The report highlights meeting discussions on FHWA’s expanded advanced highway research program and presents several committee recommendations designed to help the FHWA meet challenges associated with this program. The report also summarizes discussions on other meeting topics such as the effects of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) on the FHWA’s research and technology program; the new Strategic Highway Research Program II; and future laboratory assessment plans.
