TRB’s Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) Research Results Digest 72: Guidelines for an Alternative Transit Switch Design includes design guidelines for a new transit switch based partially on longer-lasting, better-performing switches that were developed in the early 20th century, some of which are still in operation today. The design guidelines described in the report build on technical analyses conducted and published as TCRP Report 71, Volume 2: Transit Switch Design Analysis (Phase I).
