On March 13 and 14, 2024, the Committee on Law and Justice and the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine held a workshop titled Law Enforcement Use of Probabilistic Genotyping, Forensic DNA Phenotyping, and Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy Technologies, in response to Executive Order 14074 on advancing effective, accountable policing and criminal justice practices to enhance public trust and public safety. The workshop was designed to explore issues related to the evolving use of advanced forensic DNA technologies in law enforcement, with a specific focus on probabilistic genotyping, forensic DNA phenotyping, and forensic investigative genetic genealogy.
