Attachment to Chapter 5 STUDY OF HOUSE OFFICER CONTRIBUTION TO MEDICAL EDUCATION The study group recognizes that there are several types of costs incurred by teaching hospitals that are primarily costs of education. Although time and resource limitations precluded a comprehensive analysis of all these costs, the study gioup conducted a pilot analysis of house officer tasks and roles at nine sampled medical schools affiliated with 27 teaching hospitals.
