86 A P P E N D I X C Shared-Training Readiness Checklist Instructions When the need for a training course arises, there are specific considerations to keep in mind to determine if a training from the shared-training catalog is best suited for the organization. This checklist is designed to assist organizations determine if they are ready to implement a course from the catalog. Read through each item of the checklist and ensure that all items are completed and checked off. If completing this checklist in a word processor, you can click on a box to place an “x” on that item. There is a skill and/or knowledge gap within the organization, and the need(s) for a training course has been identified. Leadership supports the need for this training course and approves of employees receiving the training. The audience for the training course has been identified. The audience has the availability to be away from their job duties in order to complete the training course without impact on their work. The specific knowledge or skills employees need to acquire in order to close the skill and/or knowledge gap are identified. The learning outcomes to determine if the training course is successful have been identified. If there is a time frame that the training course needs to be completed by, that has been identified. The organization’s training budget has been identified.

Shared-Training Readiness Checklist 87 The training course content required to meet the identified needs does not have to be specific to the organization. There is an available training course in the catalog that covers the content necessary to address the identified needs of the organization. The training course in the catalog meets the budget and time constraints of the organization’s need. The organization does not currently have a training course that meets the identified training, audience, budget, and time constraint needs. The organization’s training budget is not enough to develop a new training course to meet the identified needs. The organization does not have the personnel resources available to develop and implement a training course to meet the identified needs. The organization does not have the infrastructure and equipment available to implement a new training course to meet the identified needs successfully.
