Georgia Tech is leading a study in your community, and we could really use your help. We invite you to participate in two surveys that will help us better understand your daily travel needs, and how your travel changes over time. The findings of this study will have the potential to influence transportation planning throughout the Southeast and across the nation. Your participation is entirely voluntary, but your responses are extremely important to us. This study looks into changes that your community will experience in 2016 and 2017, which is why we ask you also to participate in our follow- up survey next year. Each questionnaire will take about 30 minutes to complete, and we think you’ll find it interesting and fun to do. We ask that the survey be filled out by the adult (18 years old or older; 19 or older for Alabama residents) in your household whose birthday is the soonest from now. Cyclists and noncyclists have a wide range of perceptions of on-street bicycling facility designs — including sharrows, bike lanes, and buffered bike lanes — along a variety of roadway types, with and without curbside automobile parking.

The TRB National Cooperative Highway Research Program's NCHRP Research Report 941: Bicyclist Facility Preferences and Effects on Increasing Bicycle Trips provides insights from communities where on-road cycling for transportation is less common, particularly in the Southeast U.S.

The report is accompanied by a poster presentation and a set of presentation slides that summarize the project.
