61 FAA ASSET Categories The result of a 2012 FAA study of existing general avia- tion airports that further categorizes these airports by diverse functions and economic contributions they make to their communities and the nation. Further divides air- ports based on criteria including levels of activity, types of aircraft, and other functions. Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Rules prescribed by the FAA governing all aviation activ- ities in the United States; the FARs are part of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Federal Surplus Personal Property Program for Public Airport Purposes Program for public airports to request authorized surplus personal property through the GSAXcess system admin- istered by the GSA. GSA An independent agency of the United States govern- ment responsible for acquiring, storing, distributing, and disposing of real property. NPIAS A national airport plan prepared by the FAA, in accor- dance with Section 47103 of Title 49 of the United States Code; NPIAS includes primary and commercial service airports, selected general aviation airports as well as all general aviation airports designated as reliever airports by the FAA.
