Preface The Institute of Laboratory Animal Resources was organized in 1952 within the Division of Biology and Agriculture of the National Research Council. The Institute disseminates informa- tion and educational material on laboratory animal resources, surveys existing and required sources, establishes standards, organizes special symposia, and generally seeks to improve all aspects of laboratory animal science. Offices of the Institute are located in the Joseph Henry Building, 2100 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. This directory was compiled and edited by Mary B. Sundborg, Administrative Assistant to Robert H. Yager, V .M.D., Execu- tive Secretary of ILAR. Like the seven previous editions, it is intended to assist in providing animals for research, testing, and teaching programs in the United States.
