Strategic Areas of Focus The members and staff of the Roundtable on Genomics and Precision Health continue to work toward the roundtable’s vision of realizing the full potential of health for all through genomics and precision health by bringing together diverse voices to encourage innovation and actions that foster the wide adoption of and equitable access to the benefits of genomics and precision health. During 2022, roundtable members explored topics such as the value of and protections for genomic data and the policies surrounding them; reporting of genetics and genomics advances for both scientific audiences and the general public; workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in industry; and challenges and opportunities for the adoption of genomics outside of the traditional genetics clinic. As part of the strategic plan that was adopted in 2020, the work of the roundtable is centered on four main areas: Innovation, Dialogue, Equity, and Adoption (IDEA). The Steering group continues to oversee the progress of all of the working groups in achieving the vision of the roundtable. Innovation The Innovation group explores competing barriers and facilitators of innovation for genomics-based diagnostics, risk assessment tools, and therapies, and leverages opportunities to learn from and promote innovative approaches that can accelerate commercialization and integration to drive the impact of genomics on precision health. Currently, the group is focusing on integrating genomic sequencing into newborn screening programs and its possible adoption into practice in the next few years. Dialogue The Shaping the Dialogue working group accelerates the dissemination of actionable knowledge to shape practice and increase public awareness. Currently, the group is focusing on developing and implementing outreach events to expand the roundtable’s reach of impact. It also continues to explore and develop dialogue sessions titled Views & Voices to discuss and debate opposing views within issues in genomics and precision health. The group is preparing to publish a comment piece on its first Views & Voices session in June 2022 on reporting genetics and genomics. 2  |  Annual Report 2022

Equity The Equity group fosters action related to underrepresentation and inequities in genomic research, workforce, and access to genomic services and examines opportunities to improve the processes and practices that the roundtable employs to achieve its mission. After publishing a Proceedings of a Workshop—in Brief and a perspective piece on workforce diversity, the group continues to develop educational opportunities for members to increase awareness of the current challenges and possible solutions for addressing diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in the field of genomics. Adoption The Adoption group cultivates evidence-based practices across the health care and public health systems for adoption of genomics and precision health and draws attention to gaps in adoption and their root causes in an effort to highlight potential solutions. This year, the group was focused on barriers to the adoption of genomics into clinical care and possible solutions to overcome them by hosting a workshop on this topic. Steering The Steering group provides strategic input and coordination across working groups and oversees progress toward the roundtable’s vision and mission. The group focuses on identifying emerging issues in genomics and precision health that have connections across the working groups. Download the strategic plan here. Annual Report 2022  |  3
