Looking Forward: Forum Priorities and Activities in 2025 PRIORITY ISSUES The forum identifies and elevates critical issue areas in medical and public health emergency preparedness and response proactively with a focus on bridging the gaps between research, policy, and practice. In 2025, the forum will continue to make progress in the following priority issue areas: Emerging Technology Medical and Public Health for Health Security Emergency Preparedness and Response Systems Emerging technology for health security focuses Medical and public health emergency on efforts to accelerate progress toward a world preparedness and response systems are critical safe and secure from emerging infectious diseases for safeguarding communities from the impacts and other conventional and unconventional of disasters and health emergencies. The forum threats, including chemical, radiological, and will center its attention on ways to enhance the nuclear emergencies. The forum will concentrate its operations, capacities, and capabilities of the discussions on the development and deployment nation’s preparedness and response systems. of innovative tools and medical countermeasures, technologies, and strategies to address the evolving threat landscape. Community Resilience and Multi-Sectoral Partnerships Public Engagement Community resilience and public engagement Multi-sectoral partnerships leverage strengths, ensure that communities and individuals have expertise, and resources of both public (i.e., the capacity to prepare for, respond to, and government entities) and private (i.e., businesses, recover from disasters while involving the public industries, and non-profit organizations) sectors to in planning and decision-making. The forum will address societal challenges. The forum centers its explore opportunities and barriers to increasing discussion on meaningful health care and public public awareness of health risks and preparedness health partnerships and opportunities to deliver strategies; engaging different communities and efficient and effective solutions that benefit the populations in the development of response public before, during, and after health emergencies. plans; and strengthening communication channels A cohesive response reduces duplication of efforts, to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of optimizes resource utilization, and enhances the information.
