In April 2023, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Forum on Neuroscience Nervous System Disorders hosted a three-part workshop series, Addressing Health Disparities in Central Nervous System Disorders. The workshop series examined how racism, discrimination, and social determinants of health have contributed to health disparities in central nervous system (CNS) disorders. The workshop series highlighted opportunities to address health disparities with discussions aimed to:

EXPLORE the impact of psychosocial and environmental factors on neurological development and biological aging.

CONSIDER barriers and opportunities to develop equitable and inclusive care for central nervous system disorders.

IDENTIFY strategies and potential collaborations to create sustainable systemic change in research and clinical care.
