ERIC HIRST is a group leader in the Energy Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory; he previously worked at the Federal Energy Administration and the Minnesota Energy Agency. His current research involves quantitative evaluation of utility and government energy conservation programs; in the 1970s, he developed and applied the Oak Ridge National Laboratory's residential and commercial energy use models.
