Upon appointment as an Assistant Professor in Microbiology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in 1985, he was named a Cornell Scholar in Biomedical Sciences, and in 1992 received a five year Hirschl/Monique Weill-Caulier Career Scientist Award. He currently holds the rank of Full Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Program of Biochemistry and Structural Biology at Cornell/Sloan Kettering Institute.
