The head of this office should be a senior atmospheric scientist or a senior technical manager with a strong operations background, who is knowledgeable about operational weather forecasting and research and development and who commands respect in the meteorological and NASA communities. Before investing significant resources in AI, it would be advisable to wait until some other group or agency has shown that this tool has potential for a similar type of forecast environment.
