... 44 MEMORIAL TRIBUTES In 1992 Dr. Cohen received the Health Physics Society Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award, and in 2003 he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering "for fundamental contributions to our understanding of low-level radiation." He retired from the University of Pittsburgh as professor emeritus of physics in 1994.
