He chairs the Committee on Pediatric Emergency Medicine of the American Academy of Pediatrics and represented the AAP on the American Medical Association's Commission on Emergency Medical Services until the Commission's charter expired in 1989. He also served on the Steering Committee of the AAP's Section of Emergency Medicine and was Chairman of the Tennessee Chapter's EMS-C Committee.
