He is currently President of Ban and Associates, LLC, providing consultative services to the weather media industry and also a guest lecturer in the Meteorology Department at The Pennsylvania State University where he teaches 1 month each semester in the Weather Communications Program. He has served on the Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate of the National Academy of Sciences, and he was Chair of the Academy Committee on Effective Communication of Uncertainty in Weather and Climate Forecasts and most recently Chair of the NOAA Science Advisory Board.
