... 311 A p p e n d i x M The Naturalistic Driving Study is a large research effort directed at improving Highway Safety in the United States where more than 30,000 people are killed and 2 million are injured every year in highway-related accidents. The study will help researchers gain a deeper understanding of the interaction between the driver, vehicle and roadway and lead to safer roadways, vehicles, and driver training programs.
