Mauel conducted postdoctoral research at MIT and conducted high-power electron cyclotron heating experiments at the Tara Tandem Mirror. His fields of interest include advanced tokamak operating regimes, feedback techniques to control tokamak nstabilities, i nonlinear turbulent transport in magnetized plasma including energetic particle modes, and the relationship between laboratory and space plasma physics.
