COSMIC RAYS Simultaneous balloon f l i g h t s by the Minnesota cosmic ray group at Minneapolis g r e a t l y extended the conclusions that could be drawn from t h i s experiment. The presence of Explorer IV i n i t s o r b i t also added very s u b s t a n t i a l l y to the experiment and represented the f i r s t time t h a t the simultaneous use of the balloon and s a t e l l i t e techniques yielded important s c i e n t i f i c r e s u l t s .
