1 Problem Statement and Research Objective Among the components that are necessary for a freeway corridor to perform well are interchanges designed to address driver expectancy, optimize mobility, and ensure safety for the traveling public. It is ironic, therefore, that the same interchanges may be designed in ways that create adverse impacts for surrounding land uses and the roads to which the interchanges connect.
