D-1   Sensitivity Analysis for Time to Collision with Disturbance Distribution A P P E N D I X D Sensitivity analysis was conducted on the disturbance distribution used in the TTCD algorithm to investigate the effect of the disturbance distribution on the identified risk. Sensitivity analysis was first performed using simulated data and then was applied using field data.

... D-2 Algorithms to Convert Basic Safety Messages into Traffic Measures D.2 Sensitivity Analysis on Disturbance Distribution Using Field Data To investigate the effect of the disturbance distribution on the identified risk in the TTCD algorithm, a sensitivity analysis is conducted on the disturbance distribution. Following the approach adopted in Section 4.3.2, five variations of the calibrated hypothetical disturbance are created by adding Gaussian noise with standard deviations that equal to 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 times of the standard deviation of the calibrated hypothetical disturbance respectively while keeping the means of these Gaussian noises the same as the calibrated hypothetical disturbance.
