4 Automated Pavement Condition Survey Practices at Airports Scope and Approach This synthesis documents and summarizes the use of automated pavement condition data collection in support of pavement management practices. The synthesis primarily focuses on the following areas explored in this study: • Industry standards • Pavement distress data collection using manual inspectors, UAS-mounted sensors, or vehiclemounted sensors • Frequency of data collection • Processing tools to derive the Pavement Condition Index (PCI)
