NUTRITIONAL ROLE Dietary Requirements of Various Species Although animals have a metabolic requirement for biotin, it is not yet established that it is a dietary essential for all species, due to widespread intestinal synthesis. The administration of certain sulfa drugs can be used to induce biotin deficiencies.
