Below is the uncorrected machine-read text of this chapter, intended to provide our own search engines and external engines with highly rich, chapter-representative searchable text of each book. Because it is UNCORRECTED material, please consider the following text as a useful but insufficient proxy for the authoritative book pages.
5 ⢠Aviation Ecosystem, ⢠Cargo, ⢠Finance, ⢠Noise and NextGen, ⢠Passenger and Customer Experience, ⢠Resiliency, ⢠Safety and SMS, ⢠Security, ⢠Spaceports, ⢠Sustainability, ⢠Technology, and ⢠Workforce Development. Next, each attendee was given 15 stickers to place next to those issues that they identified as most critical and/or emerging. After the votes were tallied, the top seven topics, in alphabetical order, were: ⢠Aviation Ecosystem, ⢠Finance, ⢠Passenger Experience and Customer Service, ⢠Resiliency, ⢠Sustainability, ⢠Technology, and ⢠Workforce Development. Each of seven tables was labeled with one of the top seven topics for the afternoon session. Partici- pants were instructed to self-select a table based on their interest in the topic and desire to discuss and develop that topic. Each table group was instructed to (1) nomi- nate a spokesperson, (2) clarify the topic name, (3) develop a background statement that will help others understand the topic and why itâs important to the airport industry, and (4) identify potential research ideas that could help prepare the air port industry to address the issues. After the group discus- sions, the top seven emerging topics/issues were 1. Total Customer Experience; 2. Challenges and Opportunities of the Air- port Business Model; 3. Impacts of Innovative and Emerging Tech- nologies; 4. Airport Sustainability; 5. Enhancing Resiliency of Airports and Inter- related Systems; 6. Airport Workforce Development; and 7. Enhancing the Aviation Ecosystem. Each table group shared the information about its topic with the other participants, who could contribute additional thoughts and ideas about the topic. Those additional comments were incorpo- rated into the content included in each topic of the attachment in this digest. The top seven emerging topics/issues with their associated background statements, lists of research ideas and lists of related ACRP research devel- oped by the Forum working groups are provided in the attachment of this digest. The background statements summarize how each working group described the emerging topic. The lists of research ideas are summaries of the research ideas generated by the working groups during their brainstorming session. The lists of related research were generated by the research team to document what research has already been done on each emerging topic. 4. NEXT STEPS After the Forum, VHB summarized the results of the Forum in a report. ACRP staff distributed the draft report to the Forum participants to review and edit. VHB revised the report incorporating the participants suggested edits. The timeline of these events to document the results of the forum are shown in Table 4. ACRP will enter the research ideas from the seven priority topics into IdeaHub as soon as possible so that teams can be built and additional problem statements can get developed by the industry.
