Working Group I I on the h a r v e s t and p o s s i b l e u t i l i z a t i o n of t h i s v e g e t a t i o n A f t e r 2 days of d i s c u s s i o n each working group prepared a statement of c o n c l u s i o n s and recommendations which the group chairman presented f o r c o n s i d e r a t i o n by a l l p a r t i c i p a n t s a t the f i n a l p l e n a r y meeting A f t e r the workshop, the p a r t i c i p a n t s watched p r a c t i c a l demonstrations a t the B e l A i r D a i r i e s on the o u t s k i r t s of Georgetown A.nong the methods for h a r v e s t i n g water p l a n t s was the use of p l a s t i c shoes to walk on water A p r e s s designed by Dr Lawrence B a g n a l l , an NAS p a n e l i s t , was used to r e - move moisture from wate r h y a c i n t h , the f i r s t step i n producing animal feeds and s o i l a d d i t i v e s Some of the r e s u l t i n g pressed cake was fed to c a t t l e , and some was made i n t o hay Prime M i n i s t e r and Mrs Burnham, the Deputy Prime M i n i s t e r , the U S and B r i t i s h Ambassadors, and R e p r e s e n t a t i v e s of the World Bank, among o t h e r s , a l s o attended the demonstrations - 4 -
