... 8 S E C T I O N 2 2.1 Methodology To identify potential social and economic sustainability performance measures and transit agency practices relating to social and economic sustainability, the research team conducted a literature review and held interviews with select transit agency representatives. Specifically, the research team reviewed recent literature related to transit and transportation performance measures, reviewed sustainability reports prepared by transit agencies within and outside of the United States, and conducted interviews with representatives from eight transit agencies that focus on the environment/sustainability.
