Impact
In its more than 50-year history, the Institute of Medicine (later the National Academy of Medicine, in collaboration with the Health and Medicine Division) produced thousands of consensus reports and other publications and hosted a vast array of public workshops and expert meetings. The following chapters describe a non-exhaustive selection of the organization’s major activities and impact within three major themes: biomedical science, U.S. health care and policy, and public health in the United States and globally.
