1 ACRP Prioritization of Policy and Planning Products Updates ACRP has provided more than $169 million in funding for 690 research projects since its inception in 2005. In those 20 years, publications and products have undoubtedly gone out-of-date. In FY2021, the ACRP Oversight Committee, along with ACRP staff, recognized the need to review past products and make updates where appropriate. A project was funded to review all publications and products in ACRP Research Field 2 – Environment. ACRP Research Fields Research Field 1 – Administration Research Field 7 – Design Research Field 2 – Environment Research Field 8 – Construction Research Field 3 – Policy and Planning Research Field 9 – Maintenance Research Field 4 – Safety Research Field 10 – Operations Research Field 5 – Security Research Field 11 – Special Projects Research Field 6 – Human Resources As part of that effort, a process was developed to review and prioritize updates to products in its respective research field. In FY2022 the ACRP Oversight Committee funded a project to review, prioritize, and update products in ACRP Research Field 3 – Policy and Planning. The review and prioritization effort is documented in this publication. This process was undertaken by The Aviation Planning Group under Principal Investigator Leah Whitfield in conjunction with Dr. Geoff Gosling of Aviation Systems Consulting, LLC. The research team followed the methodology set forth in the Airport Cooperative Research Program’s Research Field Product Update Review Process (Review Process), updated February 8, 2022. The process includes the following key steps: • Step 1: Compile Products in a Spreadsheet • Step 2: Screen Products for Update • Step 3. Obtain Panel Approval of Products and Industry Stakeholder Review Group • Step 4: Obtain Industry Stakeholder Input • Step 5: Score and Prioritize Products for Update • Step 6: Finalize List of Products for Update Appendix A documents the data collected by the research team in a spreadsheet titled “Product Update Screening Spreadsheet.” The spreadsheet shows the results of the prioritization process, as well as details regarding scoring, comments from the Industry Stakeholder Review Group (ISRG) and other information collected by the research team.
